No.
actually your dad is also incorrect. while most of them will handle an accident better than most cars, they are also MUCH more likely to be in an accident than most cars because of their poor handling.
a better choice is a fullsize car. it has almost the same ability to take a hit as a truck or SUV, but handles MUCH better and so will avoid an accident better. the ford500/taurus has the #1 rating for protecting occupants in a hit of any car in the us.
as for the H2, no. poor gas mileage, poor handling and one of the highest costs of ownership of any car sold in the US.Would a Hummer H2 make a good first car?Your dad is wrong. SUV's and trucks are quite unsafe for new drivers. The reason is that they are very bad performing, ill-handling vehicles, and that's a bad mix (statistically) for a teen driver.
Statistically, teen drivers are twice as likely to be killed in a car crash if they drive a truck or SUV, when compared to a car. The superior handling of a car is the reason. It's a lot more forgiving.
They're NOT safe.
Contrary to popular belief, Hummers %26amp; other SUVs are the unsafest (%26amp; worst handling) vehicles on the road.
Statistically, you're far more likely to be involved in a rollover than a standard car due to the high centre of gravity.
You're also far more likely to die if you are involved in an SUV rollover.
# Rollover is 27% more likely in an SUV than a passenger car
# SUV's are more dangerous due to their larger size and higher center of gravity compared to sedans
# More than 61% of fatalities that occur in SUV’s are a result of rollover crashes
# Over 10,000 people are killed per year in rollover SUV crashes

...%26amp; on top of all that, they're a pig of a vehicle to drive.Would a Hummer H2 make a good first car?Hummers are not reliable, costly to fix, costly to operate, and are ugly as sin. Now that GM is getting rid of the Hummer brand, resale values will drop like a rock.
Your dad has overlooked the fact that SUVs are top-heavy vehicles and are difficult to handle in emergency situations.Would a Hummer H2 make a good first car?
If you want to ride around in a tank why don't you see if you can get an M-47 or M-48 on the war surplus market. They get about the same mileage as the H2 and they have a 90MM main gun and a Fifty Cal. Machine gun so if you can't run over the other vehicles you can blow them away.
ya true that, you would look like a little rich mothaf...ker. if i were u look at the new lexus suv's, those r sick. or check out bmw's. and if u get the h2 ur gonna get maximum 10 miles per gallon no joke.Would a Hummer H2 make a good first car?
Note " SUVs and Trucks should not be purchased unless they are for people who actually haul things. You should just get a cheap car since you will save so much on gas money.
NO,, they are difficult to drive..the windows are to hard to see out of...The thing is as wide as the road.
Plus it's expensive and drinks gas
no, and SUV's/trucks are not necessarily safer.
yeah, right.
you would look like a snobby teenager with a ride that expensive.
