Does the production of hybrid cars harm the environment more than driving a Hummer for 10 years?

I heard that this is a result of producing the batteries...something about nickel being needed and mined. Is there any truth to this. Can anyone find articals or know of any that may suggest this?Does the production of hybrid cars harm the environment more than driving a Hummer for 10 years? It was based on an article written by Hummer manufacturers and the comparison was biased on their behalf, obviously. I.e. the footprint for the Prius was over a 12 year lifespan, for the Hummer they used a 35 year lifespan, not a 12 year lifespan. It was total BS.

So in fact the Hummer would do the same amount of damage to the environment in 12 years that the Prius would do in 35 years.Does the production of hybrid cars harm the environment more than driving a Hummer for 10 years?the point to the hybrid cars is that you can have a small motor (not much polluting or gas usage as much as a big motor) and you can get the reserve power to get the car up hills and to accelerate.

the hummer and the gas-electric hybrid are bad for the environment.

the best solution is a small motor with turbo charging to get the reserve power,

the smart car is one of that type of car.

not harmful to make and gets very good performance and mileage, and is very clean running.

no one wants to admit that there has been an easy solution to our problem for more than 20 years, but most car makers do not want to make them for us.

even a lighter standard car will help, but cars are getting heavier every year.
