I don't like Hummers because I think they are ugly, but I would gladly drive a Range Rover or similar. It is about personal choice. Besides, where I live (Australia)Hummers are considered to be crass pimp-mobiles and are not nearly as capable in the rough as a Land Rover, Range Rover or Toyota Landcruiser, I will still defend anyone's right to own one though.
Oh, and a word to those environmental wailers and moaners: a Toyota Prius, the darling car of the hypocritical greenie movement, is actually an environmental disaster. The environmental cost of it's production, battery replacement and anticipated recyclable value make it worse than a Hummer or Range Rover on the environmenat....especially due to the batteries.

They are no means great vehicles, especially the H2 and H3, especially compared with the competition, and this is why they sell quite poorly overseas, that and the styling.... No chip or several hundred in mods will turn two plus tonnes into something efficient.
As I said, in the long run any of the big SUV's are better than a Prius, environmentally as well as for any other reason for the reasons I outlined.
"A Range Rover totalled": one anecdotal incident proves nothing, and Hummers roll badly and the tests on them in the mining industry sees Toyotas and Land Rovers do better in terms of reliability and longevity and certainly image, if one wants to count that. Remember, the international market has little interest in the H2 or H3, and the H1 has lost it's novelty value and is no longer sold overseas anyway. The H2 and H3 are commercial propositions and are barely like the H1 which does have some real ability....if not as good as many rivals.Why can't folks get over thier Hummer envy?The HUMMER is an over-rated Chevy Tahoe. The H3 Hummer is an overpriced POS Chevy S-10 Blazer, which now is on the same platform as the Colorado.
You've obviously never seen one of those POS's wrecked have you. They're completely fiberglass, there's nothing left of it after a wreck.
I'd rather you people bought a vehicle made in the US. GM, Ford, and Chrysler are low on the list for the "Made in US" market.

The only real HUMMER was the M998 military HMMWV.
BTW, if you want a true offroad vehicle buy a Jeep Wrangler. Trust me the jeep will run circles around a HUMMER. HUMMERS are just to big, and heavy to make a good vehicle for any practical purpose. Unless you know how to drive a HUMMER, you'll get it stuck everytime. They're not your standard family SUV and weren't even built for that purpose, they were built to compete as an offroad based vehicle which they completely lost on that, due to their sheer size, and weight.
The HUMMER was originally designed by AM General for use by the military, which quickly became obsolete due to the size, and weight capacity limitations of the vehicle.
