What's with the USA mentality that people need to drive the biggest car or SUV? Isn't this one of the reasons gas prices are so high? Will these people who drive HUMMER also drive a military TANK if it's legal on the street? What's with people driving a HUMMER, isn't it a military vehicle and isn't SUV big enough?I totally agree. And I think, what do you even need an SUV for?? In fact, why do so many people have trucks when they don't need the back of them to lug anything ever??
Somehow I think it makes people feel more important or bigger by having it. I think it's silly and harmful to the environment. I myself drive a small car that is efficient on gas. I'd rather worry about the earth than how big and impressive my vehicle is.
I live in Canada, and I can understand why bigger vehicles are needed in the winter time (extreme amounts of snow etc). That aside, why have them at all? I think if those people have no real reason to own one, they should have to pay for more tax or something to own one. What's with people driving a HUMMER, isn't it a military vehicle and isn't SUV big enough?
To quote Bill Maher: Americans would drive a tank to the supermarket and would hump their cars if they could. What's with people driving a HUMMER, isn't it a military vehicle and isn't SUV big enough?I was wondering the same thing. I'm guessing a lot of people use them as a status kind of thing like, "Hey look at me, I have tons of money because I drive a Hummer."
What they don't realize is that their big ugly 'cars' are polluting the earth.
They are Penile Replacement Vehicles (PRV) for those who feel, umm, "inadequate" in "other areas."What's with people driving a HUMMER, isn't it a military vehicle and isn't SUV big enough?Status symbols are all they are. I mean really....how many non-working moms need one to take their kids to school and dance lessons? I guess you never know when the Girl Scouts might stage a coup! Gotta be prepared! lol If a guy drives one, our theory is......Big Hummer=Little Penis. What's with people driving a HUMMER, isn't it a military vehicle and isn't SUV big enough?
I don't know what these people are thinking when they buy these things. I got stuck driving an SUV once...returning it to the rental lot. My parents rented while the car was in the shop. They wanted an economy car, but the stupid SUV was the only vehicle left. I call it the rolling bowl of jello because it was like this driving it..."bounce bounce wiggle wiggle". Why would anyone WANT to drive something like that??? ...and let's not forget about it being a major gas guzzler.
I think it's just an extension of something they're lacking in!
status symbol, cuz. they're sooo cool and we all want to be like them and admire what they have. Yeah Right!!
I don't like that vehicle. Anyway, it's people's choice. Their expression.
Actually the Jeep started as a military vehilce, and look how popular they are. It was first called a "GP", which was short for "General Purpose". If you pronounce the letters, you get "Jeep". The nickname stuck.
The Hummer does have several advantages over other SUV's, such as ground clearance and the ability to climb steep grades. The newest model, the H3, is actually no worse on fuel economy than most other SUVs.
Have you ever been behind one of these things in traffic? You can't see a freakin' thing!
Here in Chicago, they make SUV owners pay more for their plate registration. I say that's what they get!
i don't know. it's quite sad, and contributes so much to global warming. every time i see one, i frown. a lot.
The hummer is actually a rip-off of a military vehicle, its made to look like one. The engine in it is actually pretty crappy, and usually needs some heavy maintenance at least after only 50000 miles.
Sure, hummers contribute to gas demand, but its one number in a large equation on gas prices.
That's also the next course in big car design, a tank with an SUV engine. I bet Ford comes out with it to compete with the hummer.
Keep in mind everyone who drives them is a total a***ole, too. They're shoving everything in your face that they can, and think they own the road because the car theyre driving is so big, in order to compensate for them lacking elsewise.
It's just another way of saying "look how much money I have" and "i have more money than you"
Some people either only think about themselves -or- they think so little of themselves that they need something like that to make them feel good about themselves -or- they are just completely oblivious to what they are doing and how there lives impact the environment, our natural resources, or the infinite-ness (is that a word?) of petroleum and how close we really are to running out.
If the world goes to hell in a handbasket wouldn't you like to have a military grade vehicle to survive in? I think that's one of the bigger reasons. I wouldn't consider anything after the H1 to be military grade btw. Also, if someone on the street got a serious case of road rage they probably couldn't do a damn thing to you in one of those. The idea of having power- being able to literally shovel cars out of the way in the event of (rare) emergency situations. And if you happen to have a machine gun you can mount in on the sucker. xD Joking of course. To be able to go off-road to places where most vehicles cannot follow. Across a river (snorkel) for example.
I think these people are making up for something in some other area of their life where they are lacking. You know, "little man's disease". I have always wanted to have some bumper stickers made that say "Doing my best to support terrorism" so when I saw a Hummer I could slap it on the back. If someone thinks they are awesome to drive, go join the military.
i think this is to show off how much money you have.
yeah i bet if tanks were legal they'd get one too.lol!
Because they can. Gas prices are high because of world demand not Hummers.
I agree with jess
