Most vehicles these days rely on fuel in the tank to keep the fuel pump running cool so it doesn't heat up and fail. I try to never let any of my vehicles with electric fuel pumps get less than a quarter tank before refilling for this reason. So running the vehicle low on fuel probably just cost you about a thousand dollar fuel pump.Hummer ran out of fuel and wont start after fueling?

Hummer ran out of fuel and wont start after fueling?be sure to put at least 10 gallons of gas in it and try it again, there is no pump shut off or circuit breaker. just add more gas and keep trying, its gonna take a bit for all the air to be bled out of the fuel line. you could also try spraying a little starter fluid into the throttle body to give it a shot at restarting

Is the Hummer a diesel? If so, here is the correct answer.

You have to bleed the air out of the fuel injector pump.

If you don't know how to do that, you can loosen the fuel line to one of the injectors and turn the motor over until fuel squirts out of it, then tighten it and try starting it again.

MOST of the time with a diesel you have to bleed the fuel line AT the fuel injector pump, at the fuel filters, and at a couple of the injectors.



If it is a gasoline engine, you may now have fuel pump problems if you ran the tank completely dry. Check the fuses for the fuel pump and try again, check the fuel rack on the engine to make sure you are getting fuel AT the engine, and bleed any air out of the LINE, as for a diesel.Hummer ran out of fuel and wont start after fueling?
Is it diesel? Anyhow crack a line loose up near the injectors and turn on the switch so the fuel pump will push the air out of the lines. Lots of fuel injected cars and trucks have this problem. When you get fuel there just tighten the fitting back.
Usually, there is a period of time you have to wait when this happens as the computer must reset itself. I have a small car %26amp; mine is 10 minutes. Check your owner's manual %26amp; it will tell you how long yours takes.

It sounds like the fuel system is airbound. Had it happen on a fuel injected GM car I had. Check with Hummer to see if there is a bleed valve on the fuel line. Usually it will be on the highest point in the system near the top of the engine.

And once you get it started, drive that Hummer with pride. My oil stocks need all the help they can get. Good luck.

probably have air in the system or could have even burnt out the fuel pump.
Most likely the cause is because you have sediment in the bottom of your fuel tank which got into the fuel filter lessening the amoiunt of fuel getting to your engine. Repace the fuel filter and you should be fine. Also after running out of gas there is no more pressure in the lines. When you fill the tank back up, you have to wait in order to build up the pressure before your fuel will start flowing again. try turning your car on (Don't try to start it.) you should hear your fuel pump kick on, do that a few times to get the pressure back up, then try to start it. if that doesn't work replace your fuel filter.



If that doesn't work, drive it off a cliff, just kidding.

petrol should start if the pump is running; but it may need to be cycled several times to pump the fuel up. you may have also stuffed the pump by running it dry as they will overheat and/or wear out without fuel going through them to cool them.



if diesel the pump needs to be primed to bring the fuel to the pump (it only bloes, not sucks)
