The 6.2 was never turbo'd and some 6.5's were not turbo'd. The military H1's for example. You could go to the pickups that used that engine...the 6.5, and they were tubo'd, but depending upon which engine, as diesel for turbo'ing, should have lower compression ratios to avoid detonation.

It earned a 'poor' on the rear AND side and 'acceptable' (which is akin to a 2 on a scale of 1 to 4) on the front crash. This isn't a secret. It's a piece of junk anyway. It's cheap to begin with and you get no visibility, poor mileage, uncomfortable seats, and very few options. It's built in Louisiana and is nothing more than a rebadged GMC or Chevy. It depreciates horribly and looks like you can't afford anything better.

In short, nobody NEEDS a Hummer, except maybe military personnel while on duty. They, however, use the original Hummer design that was actually capable, not the ugly one that doesn't have any more capabilities off-road than an Escalade or a Tahoe (just a bigger price tag). People buy the H2s and the H3s as status symbols, whether they are really that rich, or just want to look like they are. I have actually heard stories of people who stretch their credit to the max so they can get one of these things, while living in a tiny one bedroom economy apartment. Most of these people are not secure in their own identity, so they are trying to look impressive to other people in hopes that it will give them satisfaction. Unfortunately, it usually only makes the car companies and oil companies richer. As for off-roading, I know several people who do it, and none of them have a Hummer. i have a traction control button on the dash beside the passenger air bag indicator,
when i push it nothing happens, does it automatically kick in when i am sliding? the 4*4 lock features have a light when pushed but the traction control does not. please help.Traction control on a 2008 hummer h3 base?The Traction Control System limits wheel spin. Well Im assuming the car isn't sitting in water higher than the floor. So if rain water is leaking in, the first thing I would check is the weatherstrip arround the door. If that is out of place then I suppose a problem like yours could occur. Check the headliner for any signs of water exposure, if the water is coming from a hole in the roof or a missing bolt from the roof rail system it should show in the headliner. Other than that I can't specifically think of anything that would cause that. Good luck.vance and hines

That squeaking sound is those cv joints, or ball joints on the front end are dry as dust. GM vehicles are notorious for that problem, make sure they are lubricated every 3000 to 4000 miles!

Has a available "Luxury Package" that can get a lot of attention from people, yet a H2's main purpose is Off-Road (Like most Hummers, unlike most Mercedes vehicles except the G-Class). The Hummer H2 has a mixed-MPG of 16mpg with a strong, high-torque V8 engine and 4WD. Stability on the streets is not bad, but like all full-size SUVs, turning in the narrow city streets is quite hard, however can be reasonable in highway driving at around 50-55mph (speed isn't what full-size SUVs are best at). The Hummer H2 is incredibly durable and can tow a lot behind it, as you would expect from a company originated as a military vehicle brand.
The Mercedes-Benz CLK-430 is a premium luxury convertible that can really turn heads. a strong V8 gives this car a lot of performance and unlike most convertibles, it is very stable in handling, and is a little more fuel-saving with around a mixed-MPG of 18mpg. My husband and I wanted to get a Jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon but realize the price would be around 32k...
I looked at the hummer and the H3x is about 10k more or just H3 (adventure) would be 35k which is really close to jeep's pricing.

Well I have to disagree with chico on a whole lot of things but this is about you buying a Jeep or Hummer. And I just talked to the Service Mngr at Cerritos Hummer GMC, Pontiact and buick he said that the China government stepped in and told the chinese company ( earth mover manufacture ) that wanted to buy the GM hummer line, ( not the H1, owned by AM-General ) they cant.
I can go on about the Jeep but maybe later
I would go for the Rubicon, it has more Heavy duty applications and it is way easier to do add-ons and mods to it as you go. And has a better resale value, and over all is just a better 4x4
I have worked on and drove the H3 ( being a mechanic for GMC-hummer ) I really did not like the truck. It is ok for around town, but that chopped roof is real annoying. And vision looking out of that truck just sucks. Now the v-8 model is great on torque, and has a good weight rating for towing. And decent for 4x4ing but just not a all around 4x4 for the person that want to really get out there and 4x4. But if you want to camp and get to the local water hole with a 4 door truck then the Hummer. If you buy a jeep, then you need to be sure ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that you're buying it from The New Chrysler Group and not Chrysler LLC.
If you buy it from the Chrysler LLC, then you're buying it from a bankrupt company with no assets. So you can't sue them if something goes wrong and it's their fault and who knows if the warranty is backed.
The New Chrysler Group is now out of bankruptcy and if you're buying it from them, then you can sue them if something goes wrong and the warranty is good.
As a matter of opinion I'd prefer a Jeep.

I won't go down the path of the terrible fuel economy of the Hummer which is evident. I would not want one for that reason also not for the Live Earth concert crap but because I don't want to pay the gas costs of that waste of a vehicle, there are a lot of great SUVs if you really need one both domestic and foreign.

For most military personnel I have met, it is a huge part of their identity and driving a Hummer may be a part of that they could enjoy.
If they like activities involving off-roading, then it is an excellent choice.

People have a right to select any vehicle of their choice without threat of ridicule from those who don't pay their bills. I own a Hummer H3 and love it for its safety, reliability, and versatility... Neither. The Prius is too small for my kayaks and I need an SUV to drive in the mountains,. But a hummer is ugly, gets crappy mileage and is a headache to park in a city. A hybrid SUV would be nice; I wish they made hybrid Jeep Cherokee. Jeeps are big enough and 4WD, but also have a surprisingly small footprint and decent turning radius so city parking is OK. Hummers are the most ridiculous looking vehicles I have ever seen. They are great for military purposes, but as an automobile, well you might as well just get a normal car and put a bumper sticker on it that says "I am very insecure, and I would beat you up except I am afraid of losing". We all contribute to global warming in different ways. Why do you want a Hummer? If you're just trying to buy something you can get off the pavement in you're probably not just generating a lot of CO2 but also spending a lot money unnecessarily. Where I live there are lots of places out in the desert where a Hummer would just be too big to fit. Far more capable 4x4s are the Landcrusier Prado and the Landrover Discovery and either are far better in fuel economy, and off road and on road driving. The Land rover in diesel form is more fuel efficient than many of the larger four cylinder petrol cars.

I do not know why they dropped a wheezy 5 cylinder motor in it. They easily could have fit in the straight 6 cylinder used in the Trailblazer. I also would not think it would be a very good everyday car. It is slow, clumsy, thirsty and hard to see out of. Reliability and resale remain to be seen, and they have not traditionally been GM strong points. It seems to me it is more of a "niche" or "image" car. More style than substance. While it is good off road, no one is going to take their $35000 SUV off road and thrash it. I live in an area where some of these people drive in truly nasty conditions, where such vehicles come in handy. If I'm winching out my Toyota Tacoma that's buried half-way up the door in mud, I'm even a little jealous at the time. When I meet them at the gas station, I get over it.

I just don't want to hear any whining and crying when it costs them $100 to fill it up weekly, when the majority of miles are used to drop the kids off at soccer practice.
Personally, I think you have to be really f-cking dumb to spend thousands extra over the life of the vehicle, to buy a 4x4 and drive it on the street only.
To answer your question i think...ah...ah, i really don't think anything. I really don't try and pass judgment on people that drive certain cars, live in certain houses, work at certain jobs...ect.
I try and live my life as i see fit, because i know that i am better than no one else, especially if i look down my nose at them.What do you think of someone who drives a Hummer that gets like 8 miles to the gallon?
I live in an area where some of these people drive in truly nasty conditions, where such vehicles come in handy. If I'm winching out my Toyota Tacoma that's buried half-way up the door in mud, I'm even a little jealous at the time. When I meet them at the gas station, I get over it.
I really don't care what others can afford, or what they choose to drive.
I don't judge people by the car they drive either....
I think it's a dumb choice, and I would never drive a Hummer....but it's none of my business what they choose to do.
I thought we were still free to drive the car we want! I say, if this person likes it, can afford it, he's still free to do so.
Of course there are always jerks who think they're in such a lofty position that they should pass judgment.
remember that episode of half and half when Spencer used to park his Hummer in the parking lot and secretly ride a bicycle....you either have to have a lot of pride, deep pockets or a secret form of transportation to drive a hummer...lol
This is the same as the decision to have a wide screen TV instead of a small CRT box that fits on a shelf. Or a garage door opener instead of getting out of your car every time you get home to open the door manually.

other then that I didn't mind it as much when GM made them but now that they are made by a Chinese company it is a different story.
I really don't care. If I could effort to buy a Hummer,pay for the gas and insurance--I would have one.
