What are the disadvantages/ advantages of having a "Hummer"? Are they really that good or is it just overated?

Someone that actually has one... how much on average do you spend on gas? was it worth the money? What are the disadvantages/ advantages of having a "Hummer"? Are they really that good or is it just overated?I own a 1998 H1. I bought it slightly used. It's hard to park in a tight lot, noisy and heavy, 13mpg with diesel and expensive repairs. Most prospective owners wouldn't tolerate the lack of ease and comfort. The Hummer's advantage shines off road which is what it was made for. However, I and most people have no off road areas close by, which makes it unpractical as a daily driver. I accept all the disadvantages because it's a unique vehicle. The H1 has a big fan base and I love the attention. Worth the money? Depends on what you are willing to pay for for your toys. What are the disadvantages/ advantages of having a "Hummer"? I'd rather get one than own one! What are the disadvantages/ advantages of having a "Hummer"? Are they really that good or is it just overated? The H1 was a very capable low-frills heavy-duty machine, based on the military vehicle.

The H2 and H3 are basically chevy truck chassis and engines with redesigned body and interior. What are the disadvantages/ advantages of having a "Hummer"? Are they really that good or is it just overated?
For the life of me...or out of me...I cannot think of one disadvantage to a Hummer.....Hmmmm.....What are the disadvantages/ advantages of having a "Hummer"? Are they really that good or is it just overated? The H2 is made on the Chevrolet Tahoe chassis. Same engine %26amp; transmission. The H3 is made on the Chevy Colorado/Trailblazer chassis %26amp; drivetrain.

What you are paying is different exterior sheetmetal, different seats and dashboard.

As transportation, the Hummers are comparable to the Chevy models.

As status symbols, well, that is entirely subjective. To their owners, status is everything. What are the disadvantages/ advantages of having a "Hummer"? Are they really that good or is it just overated?
Hummer makes several models, we need to know what Hummer your talking about. H1, H2, H2 SUT, H3, etc.

All of them but the H1 are merely status symbols. The H2 is embarrassing offroad, feels cheap, and all the "chrome" on it is actually plastic. Observed 8-14mpg doesn't help either. Same goes for the H3, however I think it is a little more capable offroad and MotorTrend agrees. The weak 5 cylinder does help it do a little better at the pump though at 20mpg highway.

We all know about the H1, and because your asking this question, I'll assume thats not the Hummer your talking about.
