It is basically a GMC Tahoe with squared sides and slit windows.



The original Hummer had fully independent suspension on all four wheels with tons of articulation for maximum grip and stability on unbelievably uneven surfaces.



The H2 and H3 Hummers had solid rear axles which are quite archaic and only really have a place on trucks and children's wagons these days.



They can go to places other vehicles can't, but they are more to impress those in the soccer field parking lot.
